STITCH FIX MAY 2017: MY THIRD STITCH FIX
What is Stitch Fix?
Stitch Fix is an online personal styling company that sends you a box of 5 items- tops, jeans, dresses, shoes, jewelry, outerwear, etc. as often as you like (once a month for me since I’m updating my capsule wardrobe) for only a $20 styling fee. The $20 fee goes towards anything you decide to keep from your Fix. You get to try on the items in the comfort of your own home (aka during naptime! Hooray!) and see how everything looks with the items you already own. Stitch Fix has something for everyone- petite, average, long, maternity, men’s and now also carry beautiful plus size clothing.
Once you receive your first Stitch Fix, you have 3 days to decide what you want to keep and if you decide to keep everything you’ll receive a 25% discount (woo-hoo!). Anything that isn’t a perfect fit into your wardrobe is shipped back in the labeled envelop Stitch Fix provides for you. It’s as simple as bagging the items and dropping them in the nearest mail box. No additional fee. No dragging your little ones into the post office to buy a shipping label. It’s like Stitch Fix is made for busy Mamas! Swoon.
After you’ve chosen what to keep and what to return, log into your account to checkout. Be sure to leave Stitch Fix reviews during checkout detailing for your stylist what you liked and didn’t like about each item you received in your box. Be very specific. Your stylist uses your Stitch Fix reviews to decide what to send you in your next Fix. If you do your Stitch Fix reviews right, each Fix you receive gets better and better!
My sweet Hubby took the time out of his day to help me with the photos for my Stitch Fix May 2017 goodies. He helped with last month’s Stitch Fix reviews, too. Bad news for him. He’s 2 for 2 so far for excellent photos so now he’s stuck doing it for eternity! 😉 He always makes sure to include a few crazies like this one thrown into the mix. He gets me every time, “That last one was the best one of the day, babe!!” Then I see this…
He keeps me laughing, and that makes for great photos and a happy life. 🙂
After we shot pictures for two of the Stitch Fix May 2017 outfits, we realized we were under a tornado watch! Say whaaat?? We powered through though, and as we were shooting the fourth piece we noticed dark, billowy clouds coming at us from all sides so we rushed to take pictures of the last top. As we packed up we could look at the mountains in front of us slowly disappearing behind a white curtain of torrential downpour! We rushed back to the house, and as soon as we shut the back door behind us the floodgates opened and it poured rain for hours. We made it inside just in time! Whew!!
STITCH FIX MAY 2017
This month was my third Stitch Fix and my personal stylist this month was Kristin M. who was also the same personal stylist I have had for the past three months. I love her! She gets me. I didn’t get to pin to my Stitch Fix board on Pinterest or say much in my note to my personal stylist this month a) because it was a very busy month behind the scenes here at MamaBear Martin trying to keep up, and b) I was kind of curious what she would put together for me on her own. This month Stitch Fix sent me four shirts and one pair of shorts.
1. Market and Spruce Colibri Sleeveless Top
This top is the sister shirt to the Market and Spruce shirt I received in my first Stitch Fix. As soon as I saw it, I loved that this one was sleeveless. I feel like sleeveless tops look really well on my body. The rich navy color paired well with my blue(ish) eyes.
I didn’t like how long the top was though after I tried it on. It was a winner from the chest up, but the extra length was a bit too long on me. Too long to be a shirt, but too short to be a dress. I think it would make an adorable dress if it were a bit longer! The price is $44. Verdict: Returned
2. WREN&WILLA Mikal Halter Style Blouse
Sorry- I couldn’t pick just one for this top! Hubby did such a great job taking pictures!
When I saw this piece on the style card that came with my Stitch Fix May 2017 box I thought, “Yuck!” I hate that print!” What do you think of it? Once I pulled the piece out of the box I was pleasantly surprised to see the little stars and crescent moons hiding in the print. I love stars!
I went ahead and tried it on and the fit was crazy amazing! My favorite part was the way it cuts in around the chest area. I don’t think I ever would have picked this for myself in stores, and that’s why I love Stitch Fix so much. Each month they send me a few things that are 100% my style (this month it was the Pixley top I’ll show you next), and they also send me a few things that I wouldn’t normally consider wearing that I end up LOVING like this one! The price was $48. Verdict: Kept
3. Pixley Banu Mesh Neckline Knit Top
It was a serious struggle this month to decide between the WREN&WILLA blouse you just saw and this Pixley tank. This shirt is my style to a tee! I loved the colors, I loved the thin, soft, gray fabric, and I absolutely swooned for the lace detail cutouts! I’m honestly kinda sad I sent it back. 🙁 I can only afford to keep one item from each Fix, but if I could’ve kept more I would have loved to have this one, too. I think it is a great top for jeans, but also pairs beautifully with a black pencil skirt for more formal events. Can you picture this Stitch Fix outfit with a pair of bright colored sandals or nude wedges?? Cuuuute! The price is $54. Verdict: Returned (Regrettably)
Sorry for the blur. It was about to pour down rain and we were in a hurry!
4. Kut From The Kloth Lonnie Frayed Cuff Denim Shorts
These shorts from my Stitch Fix May 2017 were another win just like the last two pairs of pants Stitch Fix sent me. They hugged my bum perfectly without creating a gap at the top. Stitch Fix has things figured out when it comes to pants! I can NEVER find any to fit me right in stores.
I am still using a small Minimalist wardrobe so after this Fix, I plan to update my Style Profile on Stitch Fix to say that I only want tops and dresses for summer. My small wardrobe has enough bottoms for now. The only thing I may need is a great, neutral skirt for church days. Maybe I’ll add that to my note for my next Fix! Overall I have to say these shorts were certainly a winner in the fit department, but cost a little more than I’d pay for a pair of shorts at $68. I’d pay that for a great pair of pants, but something about shorts makes me shy away from that price. Maybe it’s just the thought of our hot, humid summers here in the South. My shorts rarely last more than one season. Verdict: Returned
5. 41HAWTHORN Costanzo Tie Neck Blouse
Last month I requested a peter pan style collar and my Stitch Fix personal stylist let me know that she’d be on the look out for one for my Stitch Fix May 2017 Fix. She couldn’t find one that she thought I’d love so she sent me this blouse to try. I can see the similarities between the two with the cute bow around the neckline on this top. I have to say that I absolutely hated the sleeves on this one though. Maybe I’m just a sleeve weirdo- I dunno! haha But I can’t stand to wear loose fitting sleeves! Is it just me? Once I tried the top on for photos we realized that the shirt actually made me look a lot wider than I am, too. This blouse probably looks great on someone else, but she and I were not friends. The price is $58. Verdict: Returned
All in all, I’d consider my Stitch Fix May 2017 box a good one! I’m looking forward to my June 2017 Stitch Fix box, and keeping my fingers crossed for a stunning romper. Which piece would you have wanted to keep for yourself from my Stitch Fix May 2017 box? If you want to give Stitch Fix a try you can sign up here!
