What kind of new blog category would this be if I didn’t begin with the absolute basics of how to make money from the road in your RV and tell you how to become a virtual assistant?
You’re a stay-at-home mom, or maybe you’re still a working mom who has a BIG dream of staying at home with your kids and want to learn how to earn money online and set your own hours. You want to earn a little extra income while your kids are in school, or after your babies are in bed each night, but you don’t know where to begin or what skills you need to become a VA.

Become a Virtual Assistant
I have to be completely honest with you, mama. Virtual assistance work just kind of fell into my lap.
I asked a sweet friend of mine who works online with a very well-known writer if she knew anything about how to become a virtual assistant. She knew about the long hours I had put in studying Pinterest and working hard at implementing an excellent Pinterest strategy on my personal blog and she just so happened to be in the market for a Pinterest Manager. Talk about a perfect fit.
A day later I was working with her as a Pinterest Account Manager and before much more time had passed I had gained two more clients exclusively through word of mouth in my first month as a VA.
That all sounds like a dream until you begin to consider all the potential skills a virtual assistant may need in order to keep clients happy. I focus on Pinterest (not to toot my own horn, but I rock at Pinterest SEO, y’all), but all of my first clients wanted graphic design work, two needed some WordPress SEO, and one also asked for Facebook scheduling to go along with the other work I was doing for them.
I knew how to do those things from my years of experience working on my first blog, but how could I be sure I was using best practices and really doing all that I could do to exceed my client’s expectations? I’m the type of person that wants to know it all.
Where to Learn Virtual Assistant Skills
Enter The Virtual Savvy.
When I’m researching ideas for new endeavors my go-to is always Facebook groups. I love being able to ask an actual person how they did XYZ then follow up with any more questions I may have about a topic. Most groups are so welcoming and helpful with invaluable information that you would have to waste hours searching for online. We’re moms. We don’t have that kind of time to waste when we could be using that time to work for a client and make money.
Facebook Groups for New VAs
First, I have to let you know that I want you to join The VA Mom on Facebook. It’s a brand new group that I want to grow into a community for moms that want to learn virtual assistance skills so they can earn money online while staying at home with their kids.
My two favorite Facebook groups for moms that want to work at home are:
Mom to Mompreneur with Elna Cain of TwinsMommy and
Virtual Assistant Savvies with Abbey Ashley of The Virtual Savvy.
I’ve been a member of Mom to Mompreneur for a long time now. The group is growing in leaps and bounds and now has over 5,000 mom entrepreneurs. Elna is an invaluable resource on all things blogging and freelance writing. Tuesday is promotional day where you can share your services, email opt-ins, or blog posts.
I’m a new member in Virtual Assistant Savvies, but it has already been an incredible resource for me as a new VA. Simply scrolling through other members posts inspires me seeing the wide range of services they offer in their virtual assistant businesses. I’ve had questions answered before I even thought to ask them! hah!
This group is also where I heard about SavvyTech Lab through a free webinar hosted live by Abbey Ashley herself. I went into the webinar knowing she would probably try to sell me something. I mean, that’s a normal marketing strategy for people who earn money at home online. In the future I may even use it myself. I just didn’t realize it’d actually be something incredibly valuable!
Abbey shared some excellent tips for new VAs in her free webinar (if she ever has another be sure you sign up!), but what really got me going was hearing her talk about her membership site SavvyTech Lab. SavvyTech Lab offers training on all the top platforms that a client may ask you to use for them to complete the work they need done. Not only that, but the trainings are FAST.
If a client comes to you on a Friday asking if you know how to use Seva to implement a new opt-in on their website you can say, “Yes!” Take the Seva training in SavvyTech Lab over the weekend and keep on working smoothly without ever missing a beat or having to say no to a client who needs your help.

My jaw was on the floor!I was expecting some outrageous price tag. Not only is it affordable, but there’s no commitment. If you only want to use SavvyTech Lab for one month and take absolutely every course as fast as you can then do that! You can!
But I don’t recommend that. Start with what you want to niche into as a virtual assistant then take additional courses as you want to grow your business.
I’ll be sticking around for the new courses and bonuses being added each month. This is an insanely incredible valuable resource for continuing education to any new VA plus you can write it off on your taxes as business expense. Even experienced virtual assistants should use this tool to grow their client reach through expanding the services they offer.
I told y’all! It’s perfect!
If you want to learn the skills you’ll need to make money fast and be a a great virtual assistant who makes her clients over-the-moon happy then sign up for SavvyTech Lab today!
